Calculate diversity indices

From Ribosomal Database Project Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

As indicated by the name, a diversity index is used to quantitatively measure how many different types (i.e. species, OTUs, etc) represented in one or more datasets. Three kinds of diversities (α, β, and γ diversity) commonly sought in microbial ecology studies.

RDP AbundanceStats tool performs calculations for Shannon & Chao1 (α diversity) and Jaccard & Sorenson indices (β diversity).

Notes: this tool requires that the input file (.clust) contains one (for Shannon & Chao1) or multiple (for Jaccard & Sorenson) samples.
